Mazonia-Braidwood Fish and Wildlife Area This permit allows collecting Mazon Creek nodules from the coal mine spoils at the Mazonia-Braidwood Fish and Wildlife Area. For this day-use permit to be valid, you must fill out the lower portion of the permit and turn it into the FWA (in person or into the designated box). Please note you are also required to report the results of collecting on IDNR lands to the Illinois State Museum. A form is provided with this permit to make this reporting easy. The upper half of this form should be kept, since it is your permit. Please read the regulations on the upper half of this sheet carefully. By signing this permit application, you are agreeing to abide by the rules listed on the permit. Date ______________ Permittee"s Name ___________________________ Permit Number 01-XXXX Regulations for fossil collecting on the Mazonia-Braidwood Fish and Wildlife Area 1. This permit is good for only the day issued. 2. Permit is only good during collecting season (March 1 - September 30) 3. Permit is for fossil collecting only, hunting or fishing is not allowed with this permit. 4. Surface collecting only is allowed, no evacuation or removal of vegetation is allowed 5. Access is allowed only for open areas, as determined by the staff of the FWA. 6. Vehicular access is limited to areas designated by the IDNR. 7. Collecting is permitted for personal use only, commercial collecting (I.E. collecting for sale or barter) is not permitted on IDNR property. 8. There is a possession limit of one(1) five-gallon bucket of nodules on the Mazonia-Braidwood FWA. 9. You are required to report the results of your collecting to the Illinois State Museum (A form is provided) ------------------------------fold/tear to separate permit from application --------------------------------
