The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) is planning changes to the Mazon Creek nodule collection policies and procedures for the areas it administers, in particular the Mazonia-Braidwood Fish and wildlife Area (including the Braidwood Cooling Lake). These changes are anticipated to take effect for the 2001-collecting season.

The following is a draft summary of the new policy and procedures (including some comment on what things will not change and what changes are being discussed). This is only a draft. We would to get constructive comments on the changes (or suggestions of other changes that need to be made). Please Note: For these changes to be put into effect by March 2001, they will need to be finalized in early December 2000. For that reason, comments should be made before mid-November.
