With 1 thru 4 listed in order and making up 60% of specimens.* 1. Macroneuropteris scheuchzeri (Neuropteris scheuchzeri 2 3 6 7, Neuropteris decipiens 1 5) 2. Pecopteris mazoniana (Pecopteris vestita 1, Astrotheca miltoni 3 6 , Pecopteris lumuriana 5) NOTE, This form’s name was made even more confused when G. Langford, in book 2 changed the name for a different form called Mariopteris mazoniana into Pecopteris mazoniana 3. Neuropteris vermicularis (Neuropteris gigantea 3 6, Neuropteris ovata vermicularis 5, Neuropteris flexuosa 1) 4. Laveineopteris rarinervis (Neuropteris rarinervis 1-7) 5. Annularia stellata 6. Pecopteris unita, fertile form Scolecopteris unita (Ptychocarpus unitus 3 6) 7. Alethopteris serli 8. Pecopteris arborenscens, fertile form Scolecopteris elagans 9. Alethopteris sullivanti (Callipteridium sullivanti 1)
All the following names represent forms not found in the Mazon Creek Flora Neuropteris gigantean or as called now Paripteris gigantea Astrotheca miltoni or Pecopteris miltoni or now called Lobatopteris miltoni
Following are some miscellaneous changes Pecopteris lamuriana is now called Lobatopteris lamuriana or L. vestita Neuropteris clarksoni is now called Macroneuropteris macrophylla Pecopteris hemiteliodes when fertile is now called Astrotheca (Pecopteris) hemiteliodes. NOTE, The name Astrotheca should only be used when describing a fertile form of the proper type. In the past this name has been incorrectly used for both sterile and fertile forms. Also note the best way to express a fertile name is with the non-fertile genius name retained in parenthesis.
