The Federal Emergency Management Agency plans to reclassify land in Illinois protected by 75 miles levees. FEMA has determined that the levees can’t be trusted and says that the land behind them is now a flood hazard area. Now residents and businesses in areas like Granite City must rethink their flood insurance and many with mortgages will be required to buy the insurance.... more
