HILL CITY, S.D. (AP) — A group of volunteers has finished restoring an old gold mine structure in western South Dakota.
U.S. Forest Service archeology technician Michael Salisbury tells KEVN (http://bit.ly/pKVrOp) that a group of about 30 people spent about a week restoring and improving the Gold Mountain Mine structure.
The U.S. Forest Service mine was set to demolish the mine in 2007 but decided not to after learning about its history and coordinating with national and local volunteers.
