Archaeology Study Group Meeting. 7:30 p.m. College of Dupage, - Tech Ed Building (TEC), Room 1038B (Map) Topic: Lexi Kiamco will present - United Kingdom History and Archaeology The United Kingdom has a very interesting history, full of Romans, Welsh, Scots, English, Irish, and their fair share of Norwegians. Starting at the Roman Empire's invasion in 55 BC by Julius Caesar, and ending with the Norwegian invasion in 1066, we will be taken on a long and grand tour of The United Kingdom's history and archeology. There will be everything from Julius Caesar’s failed attempt to even take a beach, to the bloody three-way battle for the crown between William II of Normandy, Harold II of the Anglo-Saxons, and Harald Hardrada of the Norwegians. Our journey will cover over 1,100 years of English history. NOTE: The archaeological study group auction will be deferred to a later date please stay tuned for further updates. |

Burpee Museum, Rockford, IL. 2014 Mahlburg Scholar Lecture by Dr. Dennis Kolata (ISGS Retired) will be presenting “Life and Times of a 450 Million Year Old Seaway”. Dennis is an expert on Illinois Geology, especially the Platteville and Galena Groups. His research focus includes crinoids and trilobites. He recently edited the Geology of Illinois Book. For those of you at colleges/universities, you can post the flyer below and /or pass it out to students who might be interested. The lecture is free for members or with general admission. FLYER |
