The following pictures are from a field trip to Pint's Quarry in Iowa in May 1977. These photos come from Kathy Dedina. She and Julie appear in the first photo. Pint's was a Fluorine-Fluorite mine near Raymond, Iowa. The host rock is of middle Devonian age - 393 to 382 million years ago. It is known for minerals and fish fossils (Arthrodire fish - Macropetalichthys, Rhynchodus, and Ptychodus). The rock formation is the Cedar Valley Limestone.
