These are pictures of a field trip to Lutz Quarry near Oskosh Wisconsin in 1954. Lutz Quarry had rocks from the Ordovician Period. The formations represented at the quarry were the Galena, Decorah, and Platteville Formations, which are part of the Sinnipee Group. The quarry was known for mineral collecting with interesting specimens of Marcasite, Pyrite, Calcite, and others present. The minerals were found in dolostone, limestone, and shale. Unfortunately, the quarry was reclaimed many years ago.
