A fifth grade class in Burr Ridge, IL began researching rocks and noticed our state does not have a rock as an Illinois symbol. That got them even more curious...What if we contact people to find out what would be a good choice? This started as a simple question, which led to several zoom research calls and numerous emails from geologists, rock enthusiasts, and scientists around the Land of Lincoln.
We have narrowed it down to three rocks.
