This week, we have a very nice specimen of a seed fern called Mariopteris sphenopteroides. Mariopteris is relatively rare in the Mazon Creek biota. I have always loved the ornate leaves. This photo comes from ESCONI member Andrew Young. You may remember that Andrew has played a vital role as one of the editors of the books "The Mazon Creek Fossil Fauna" and "A Comprehensive Guide to the Fossil Flora of Mazon Creek". Thanks for the awesome contribution, Andrew!
