This is Throwback Thursday #77. In these, we look back into the past at ESCONI specifically and Earth Science in general. If you have any contributions, (science, pictures, stories, etc ...), please sent them to [email protected]. Thanks!

Last Saturday, we had "Show and Tell" at the September Paleontology Study Group meeting. We met both in person at the College of Dupage and on Zoom. It was great to get together and see old friends and meet some new ones. Traditionally, the September meetings have been "Show and Tell", but in the old days they called it "Brag Night. It was the night to meet and tell stories and brag about new finds from the summer. If only we had pictures of some of those finds!
The first advertisement of "Brag Night" was in September 1952.
In 1956, there was both a message from president Howard Knight and the standard announcement.
1973 had quite the schedule with no less than 7 Brag Night/Show and Tell meetings!
1981 was similar with "Brag Night" all month...
1996 was the last time it was called "Brag Night". Unfortunately, by then, only Paleontology was having "Brag Night".
September 2003's announcement mentions some of the recent ESCONI field trips. Wouldn't we all love to visit Lone Star and the Illinois Cement Quarry!
Now for 2021, we had some very nice specimens on display. Here are a few highlights.
