A Mazon Creek insect is up today... a Eubleptus danielsi from the Mazon River. The concretion was collected in 2020 at the I&M Canal Corridor Fossil Field Trip. The species is named for L.E. Daniels a prolific early collector of Mazon Creek and other Carboniferous fossils. His collection resides at the Illinois State Museum.
The following drawing comes from the "Richardson's Guide to the Fossil Fauna of Mazon Creek".
