25 Years Ago – November 1996
- The November 1996 program was “Mound Builders of the Americas”, by Les Marszalek.
- The Juniors meeting in November 1996 provided a chance to build an erupting volcano.
- ESCONI member Andrew Hay presented a program at Lizzadro Museum On November 16, 1996 called “Plant Life Through the Ages: The Illinois Fossil Story”.
50 Years Ago – November 1971
- The October 1971 Earth Science News describes “Brag Night” for the Paleontology Study Group, during which Jim Konecny displayed a 52- pound ammonite from Texas, and a 23-pound dinosaur vertebra from Utah!
- The annual ESCONI Silent Auction was held on October 8, 1971. This activity stopped several years ago, but was brought back this year in the form of the “Fall Sale”.
- The following words of wisdom came from a newsletter called “The Geode”: “Once you get a mouthful of very hot coffee, whatever you do next is going to be wrong”.
