This is Throwback Thursday #85. In these, we look back into the past at ESCONI specifically and Earth Science in general. If you have any contributions, (science, pictures, stories, etc ...), please sent them to [email protected]. Thanks!

Today, we have a poem from the March 1971 edition of the newsletter. It has a simple name, "Rockhound's Poem". I'm sure there's a bunch of you out there that can identify with the content, and maybe even add a few lines. It seems like it needs mention of snow and ice or broiling summer heat!
I looked, but unfortunately couldn't find anything on Crystal Cluster or Adin W. Van Wine. If anyone knows anything, please send it to us! Thanks!
ROCKHOUND'S POEM
Climbing over rocks and crags,
Putting rocks in pockets and bags,
Walking in mud, 'til each foot weighs a ton,
Getting wet and calling it fun,
Hiking miles through brush and vines,
To hunt the dumps of abandoned mines,
Looking in holes and gravel pits,
Cracking big rocks into little bits,
Doing all this may take some guts,
But these are the reasons some call us nuts!by Adin W. Van Wine via Crystal Cluster
