25 Years Ago - February 1998
- The ESCONI show was held on February 28th and March 1st.
- James A. Marshall spoke at the General Meeting. His topic was surveying and mapping prehistoric earthwork construction sites in Ohio and the South.
- Dave Bergmann, Field Trip Chairman, was working on a joint trip with the Detroit Rock Club to collect Celestite amd Sulfur.
- The newsletter had an announcement that Fred Labahn died in December 1997. He was a member of ESCONI from 1962 and served as president in 1975-76.
- Dino News had segments on Giganotosaurus, Argentinosaurus, and Seismosaurus.
50 Years Ago - February 1973
- The General Meeting was "Minerals in Daily Use" by Mrs. Dorothy Schnizlein.
- The Mineralogy Study Group was discussing radioactivity.
- Lapidary had a demonstration of "Steam Casting". Florence Stuff and Betty Williamson were the demonstrators.
- The paleontology of Grant County, Wisconsin was the subject of the Paleontology Study Group Meeting. Ordovician brachiopods and arthropods were on display.
- There was an indoor Pocket Swap in Mayslake Village on February 3rd. Participants were instructed to bring their prized specimens to show off.
70 Years Ago - February 1953
- The General Meeting was given by Tom Ludlow of Johns-Manville Company about the development and usage of Diatomaceous deposits. He had a sound and color film!
- The newsletter had an article on the Marquette Iron Range in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
- ESCONI meetings were featuring a Swap Table at the time and Bill Allaway was hoping for some Rubies.
