25 Years Ago - November 1998
- The General Meeting featured a presentation entitled "Viking Pottery of York, England" by Karen Peterson of Chicago State University.
- Paleontology was discussing the Eocene, 37.5 - 54.5 million years ago.
- The Juniors went on a field trip to collect arrowheads.
- Andy Hay was writing about Esconites zelus in his Creature Corner column in the newsletter.
- The Field Museum had some special visitors from China - Protarchaeopteryx and Caudipteryx.
- Chris Cozart rejoined ESCONI after a few years away.
50 Years Ago - November 1973
- The newsletter had a report about the ESCONI Auction in October 1973. It was successful!
- Dr. John R. F. Bower, Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Lake Forest College did the General Meeting presentation. His talk was titled "In the Beginning". It was about the beginning of human culture in sub-Saharan Africa.
- Rich Rock did a presentation about ammonites for the Paleontology Study Group.
- There was a field trip to Pit 11 on November 4th, 1973. 60 people showed up for a very cold day. There were some good specimens found.
- Dick Ade created a case of Mazon Creek fossils for the Peabody Coal Company.
- The Chicago Lapidary Club held an auction at the Ridge Park Fieldhouse in Chicago on November 11th, 1973.
70 Years Ago - November 1953
- The subject of the Archaeology Interest Group was "Hopewell Culture of Illinois". It was presented by Dr. John C. McGregor, archaeologist from the University of Illinois.
- The ISGS held a field trip to collect Mississippian and Pennsylvanian fossils in southern Illinois on November 14th, 1953.
- "Empire Builders of the Andes" was the title of the General Meeting presentation, which was given by Donald Collier, Curator of Archaeology and Ethnology at the Chicago Natural History Museum (Field Museum).
- The newsletter had a article about electro-copper plating by O.M Fether.
- Dr. F. L. Fleener wrote "Mineral Identity Streak" for the newsletter.
