This is Throwback Thursday #197. In these, we look back into the past at ESCONI specifically and Earth Science in general. If you have any contributions, (science, pictures, stories, etc ...), please sent them to [email protected]. Thanks!

This weeks Throwback comes from March 1971. It's a little poem called "The Old Adage. It comes from the "Ozard E. S. News". That is probably a misspelling of "Ozark Earth Science News", which is the newsletter for the Ozark Earth Science Club in Mountain Home, AR. A club that appears to be alive and well. They held a Rock, Gem, and Mineral show in December, 2023. Howard and Olive Knight moved there in 1968. They were very active original members of ESCONI. Articles were shared back and forth for much of the 1960's and 1970's.
The author, Helen Boas, born in 1898, lived to the ripe old age of 82. Her obituary listed her as a member of the Ozark Earth Science Club.
The Old Adage
Two little rocks on the side of a hill,
One moved about, and the other lay still.
The quiet one said, "Stop hopping around,
Come over here, and rest on the ground.
The restless one answered, "I slide and I toss,
To prove that a rolling stone gathers no moss.
