This trip is currently full. There is a waiting list.
There will be an ESCONI field trip on Saturday, May 31, 2025, to the quarry just east of Napoleon, Indiana. There is an attendance limit of 15 people. We need to meet, no exceptions, at the quarry entrance at 8:30 a.m. EDT. The quarry exposes the Silurian Massie Shale, which produces abundant cystoids as well as trilobites, crinoids, brachiopods, bryozoans, sponges, and coral. There is also a dump pile of Ordovician Whitewater Formation which produces brachiopods and other typical marine fauna. The quarry will be a several hour drive for most people, so consider the distance when making your plans.
