If you thought religious relics were the only places ancient whispers could be heard in Renaissance-era Italian churches, University of Milan paleontologist Andrea Tintori has some Earth-shaking news for you.

That’s because Tintori has discovered fossilized remains that are posited as a dinosaur skull from an unknown species, but in a surprising spot. No, not among the hills or rocky outcroppings of Italy. But near the altar, in slabs supporting the balustrade, of the Cathedral of St. Ambrose in Vigevano, a town approximately 20 miles from cosmopolitan cousin Milan. One wonders how many paleontology aficionados will now flock to Vigevano.
